Emelie - New York (2015)

Cheesecake Factory

Fritiden Posted on Thu, October 22, 2015 03:23:31

We went to a shopping mall this afternoon, me, Anastasie (France) and Paula (Colombia). We visited Cheesecake Factory and ate a really good tasting dinner with cheesecake as a dessert of course. We have to celebrate Anastasies last week here. It feels like everyone I like here will leave in a near future and it’s not fun at all.

Paula, Anastasie and me.

I’m a little bit jealous over a girl here who will go to San Diego in 3 weeks. There she will live in a host family who loves to go surfing. It sounds really great.
She stay in NY for 6 weeks, San Diego a couple of weeks and then Costa Rica and Barcelona to learn Spanish and finally Paris to improve her French. You can find a lot of opportunities with EF.

Waiting for my love

This week is one of the best here. The reason is that Sebastian arrives here on Friday. It’s nice to know that I have our 10 days together to look forward in a really close future. It will be so fun to enjoy NYC together with Sebastian and also move to Manhattan for a week. I have still classes here in Tarrytown and some days I have to go back to school, but it’s fine because Sebastian need to work some hours as well.

Oh I have waited for this week and now it’s soon Friday! I remember the last weekend Sebastian visits me and how sad I was to be without him when he left, because we had four weeks without each other. This is the longest time we have been away from each other since we met 02/25/2011. Thank God for FaceTime! (Or Apple?)

And now – 4 days left!

Happy Sunday

We supported Brooklyn Nets today, me, Ophelie (Belgium) and Tim (Holland). It was really fun! Much better than Baseball. Maybe because I know the rules in Basket but not in Baseball. It was a good feeling inside the stadium, almost party feeling. We were in the stadium for 3 hours, but I felt it like maybe 1 hour.

Then we went to a roof top bar and drank Irish Coffee. It was cozy and we was enjoying the autumn. It was windy, but it was nice in the sun anyway!

Later I went alone for shopping in West Village. When I visited Gant Rugger I asked “Can you help me to find pants, trousers or what do you call it” (I forgot what word to use in US) The shop assistant answered: “Yeah, pants … Or trousers… What do you call it?” “Byxor”.

And then I found “sockerbit”. I have to celebrate 4 weeks in NY with real candy.

It’s two people from Sweden who opened “Sockerbit”. I have read that even Princess Madeleine visited this store when she lived in NYC.

Memorial Museum

Today we went to Manhattan again, me, Anastasie (France) and Tim (Holland). We walked in Chinatown and Little Italy. It was quite cold today (11 degrees and windy but the sun was shining), but it was nice to see this part of Manhattan even if we were freezing some times. I have no picture from our walk. It’s so much to see at Manhattan so I have no idea how I can experience everything during this time.

Later this afternoon we walked to the Memorial Museum, 9/11. We visited the museum for three hours. It was a really fantastic museum, the best I visit here in NYC. You hear calls from the same day it was happened, experience and memories from people who survived, news from the day and even more. It was one man who called his mother and told here that everything was fine with him, the plane have crashed in the other tower. The call was some minutes or seconds before the second plane was crashing in his tower. It affected me a lot. And a woman who met a fire man outside the two towers, he was only around 19 years old, and she said to him to not enter the building because of it’s too dangerous. He answered that it was his job. It’s difficult to understand how it was of course, but to visit this museum gave a better understanding.

Do you remember this day?

I remember that I came home from school and mum said to me to go to her and see the news on TV. I was only 12 years old and I understood that this was horrible, maybe because of everyone was so sad, but I think it was hard for me to understand and it was even so far away from me then. I can’t remember why I didn’t know what happened before I came home, why they don’t told us in school.

Here is a picture from the museum. “Trying to remember the color of the sky on that Tuesday morning”
“No day shall erase you from the memory of time.”

Yesterday (Friday) me and Anastasie (France) went to Madame Tussauds and MOMA. I didn’t thought before our visit that Madame Tussauds was anything for me but it was actually quite fun. And we saw also a film in 4D, strange but a fun experience. Here is some picture from Madame Tussauds:

Me in the future. When I’m the best recruiter in the world, they really want to have me in a TV-show.
Obama and Michelle are so tall! Or I’m short…

And then we went to MOMA (Museum Of Modern Art). It’s free to visit at Friday evenings. I enjoy to see Picasso and other famous artists in real and not only at pictures. After our visit we saw a long long line to an ordinary food stall, but because of the line we thought that it was something really special so we tried. It was simple and good tasting gyro in pita and it was worth the time in line. Perfect!

C.1.1 – advanced level

Studierna Posted on Fri, October 16, 2015 19:10:52

I passed to the next level. It feels so good. My teacher told me that I’m was the second best in reading in my class and the part I have to practise even more in is writing. So I think it’s really good that I already is writing this blog.

Have a nice Friday!

The food

Fritiden Posted on Fri, October 16, 2015 02:27:36

Ok, to be honest. I eat too much Pizza here, because almost every day you can choose Pizza instead for the ordinary food – like the food I show here below. But I’m always pick vegetables as well. And you can get desserts and choose among a lot of drinks everyday too.

Some pasta, something green, chicken and sweet potato.

Creamy pasta, some meat. Maybe my next career isn’t to write reviews about food. Or what do you think? 😀

The most of the students hate the food here. I’m glad to get “free” food everyday and that I can choose between several dishes. I think the salad bar is quite good too.

Before my trip I thought it would be hard to share room with other people, as I don’t know. But know, I think it’s opposite. Without my roommates I think I maybe had feel loneliness. It’s good for me to have people in the room to speak with or only have in the room and feel that I’m not is alone.

The difficult is that I never can choose to be alone here when I want it. Sometimes I’m alone in the room or in some corner in school, but suddenly it can changes and I never know when. But I prefer to have roommates in this situation anyway.

Maybe you want to know the test result, as I said that I will know today. Me too. I wait for the result and maybe get it tomorrow.
